IRCAM As part of a research project involving Boulez’s Anthèmes II I managed to visit IRCAM in Paris last week and got to see how they put together the piece. It is entirely in Max/MSP with a few ancillary programs. IRCAM is suprisingly minimal, just clear offices and studios with very little equipment in, it seems as if they mainly focus on software based music, which makes sense when you are purely thinking about musical concepts rather than the aesthetic design of instruments.
